Robert Vaters is a senior professional with 25+ years of executive experience in the healthcare industry.
He has held several C level positions in medical devices, specialty pharma, biotech, finance and technology organizations. Mr. Vaters presently serves as President of Carob Partners LLC, a strategic acquisition and investor consulting firm. He is also a consultant regarding medical devices, biotech, and specialty pharma with a large consulting firm.
Previously, Mr. Vaters was President, CFO and Director of Biotech and Contract Manufacturing for Caladrius Biosciences, a publicly held biotech and contract manufacturing company. From 2008 to 2013 he worked at the global medical device company Orthofix in several roles culminating with his appointment as President, CEO and a member of the Board of Directors. At Orthofix Mr. Vaters led the company’s strategic plan for their next phase of growth, exceeding multi-year expansion goals and eliminated debt through revenue growth, business divestitures and building efficient operations.
From 2006 to 2008 he was Co-Founder and General Partner at Med Opportunity Partners LLC, a private equity firm which acquired healthcare companies at growth stage and introduced world-class operating expertise to these emerging companies. Prior to that he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer as well as head of strategy of Inamed Corporation, now part of Allergan Inc.
Mr. Vaters’ business acumen and increasingly executive roles in the healthcare space have earned recognition not only from his employers but press outlets including the Boston Business Journal, Business Wire, D (Dallas) magazine and more. In 2012 he was recognized as an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the year finalist. As a professional with a penchant for turnarounds, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to elevate companies to their next cycle of growth. He has domestic and international experience including running an Asia Pacific operation in Sydney Australia, and over the years he has worked with businesses at all levels, from acquiring emerging companies to directing multimillion dollar global organizations.
Robert Vaters earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from Francis College in 1982. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Fordham University in 1990. A lifelong learner, he later pursued his executive education in leadership and organizational transformation at Harvard Business School in 1999.
